Aligning Education to Meet the Needs of Texas Employers

In this paper, the Texas Association of Workforce Boards, commonly referred to as TAWB, considers the current and projected levels of education attainment, the projected workforce needs of the Texas economy, the projected gaps in education and training, and the trends in STEM fields, career and technical education and worker certifications.

In 2009, leaders in the Rio Grande Valley commissioned TIP Strategies, Inc. to conduct an industry cluster analysis of the region; which includes Starr, Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron County. Funding for this project was provided by the Texas Workforce Commission as part of the agency’s Regional Cooperation Capacity Building for Targeted Industries grant.
