Eligibility Requirements

Families may be eligible for 12 months of subsidized child care assistance, if the household is at or below 85% SMI (see income guidelines below) for their family size AND

• The family requires child care to participate in training, education, and/or a combination of employment activities for a minimum of
  • 25 hours per week for a single-parent family, or
  • 50 hours per week combined for a two-parent family; OR
• The family requires child care to conduct job search to meet minimum participation requirements for At-Risk child care eligibility.

Minimum participation requirements for continued child care upon Initial Job Search Child Care*:

*As a condition of the twelve (12) months of child care services upon Initial Job Search, a family must submit proof of meeting the minimum participation requirements, as listed below, before the end of the initial three (3) months:

• 25 hours per week for a single-parent family, in which at least 12 hours are in employment or
• 50 hours combined per week for a two-parent family, in which at least 25 combined hours are in employment

Maximum Gross Income Eligibility for Child Care Services

            October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026

*Family size consists of parent(s)/spouse and any other person in the home that can be claimed as dependents on a federal tax return or a minor who is the responsibility of the parent/applicant.**Income does not include federal or state assistance or child support.

Important Notice

On January 13, 2025, Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) launched the Texas Child Care Connection (TX3C), a new system offering families a statewide online application for Child Care Services.

To apply for a child care scholarship, click here TX3C Parent Central site. This site will be the public access point for waiting lists, new applications and recertification applications.

Beginning January 13, 2025, all important information about your child care scholarship will be shared through the TX3C Parent Portal, which is powered by KinderConnect.  If you have not completed your registration to TX3C Parent Portal, please click here to begin.
